How we can improve candidate acquisition with user geolocation technology

Geo location

When building a recruitment website or careers site, it is common place to spend a lot of time trying to make the page look great, and this is fine, a good looking site will increase the amount of time a user spends on your site and if they spend more time on your site there is a greater chance that we can get a conversion. This is true, of any website and audience type. However today we are talking about candidates and specifically two places in the candidate journey.

Both of the Refari widgets that provide these functionalities, acquire either candidate phone numbers or candidate locations. With many of our clients being international recruiters and candidates not always coming from the same country that the recruitment is taking place in, it is important to collect phone numbers with the international code +61, +44, +65 etc.  This is also important for the purpose of collecting high quality data for your Applicant Tracking System (CRM/ATS.) This way we specifically get phone numbers compatible with SMS messaging services. You may not be running an SMS campaign today, but you might tomorrow 😉.

One of the barriers to entry with using phone number country codes is that not all candidates know theirs or know how to strip out unwanted 0’s at the beginning of their number. It sounds relatively straightforward, but we have seen it time and time again.

How we solve this problem ?

Geolocation

It is in the title. We use geolocation 😊 By using candidate geolocation we can make an educated guess as to the phone number international code and the country. This saves a significant amount of time for more than 99% of candidates. It therefore leads to a more streamlined application/registration process and higher quality data being populated in your ATS

Not using geolocation to streamline your application process?
